Foxconn to Build 10-12 Production Facilities in India by 2020

Foxconn announced plans to set up 10 to 12 manufacturing plants in India by 2020, expecting to create over one million job opportunities, reported India's Economic Times on July 11. The company will initially look for appropriate sites in Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. Besides, Foxconn will also build data centers and startup incubators in cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad, with further plans to invest in local Internet startups, small and medium-size enterprises, and mobile phone makers.

 

In related news, Foxconn has begun making and shipping smartphones for Xiaomi and US vendor InFocus at its new plant in India's Sri City Special Economic Zone. The plant is estimated to make around 10,000 phones per day, according to Economic Times on July 15.
